Day 36 : Speed : PHOTO

Last summer, I was able to go out on a track day and take some pictures. Always a good time.

Day 35 : BOX : VIDEO

Was messing around with Blender using the same basic box shape to test out some render techniques and a few other things. I liked some of the shots and wanted to share, so I decided to edit them together and make a little abstract video.

Day 34 : Typing Depth : PHOTO

Keyboards that glow are incredibly helpful. Being able to pick your color may be a bit frivolous but it's certainly nice.

Also apologize to those reading for the lack of updates the last few days. Things got a bit crazy and I fell behind. Going to try and get things prepped a few days in advance now so we don't have that problem and have a bit more regular posting schedule.

This is the first of what I hope to be many photos along these lines. Long exposure light paintings. I'm pumped to do more.

A song I made for a class of mine last year. It was inspired by the book "At the Back of the North Wind" by George McDonald.

Free Game Friday | The Wiki Game

Ah, wiki races. A simple yet absolutely wonderful way to use one of the best resources the internet has given us. The idea is simple yet addictive. You're given a limited amount of time to get from one random wikipedia article page, to another using only the embedded hyperlinks. For example Harry Potter to Dave Chappelle, Mozilla to LOL, Vietnamese to Nervous System.

Now there are a few different game modes for you to choose from. Speed Race: whoever gets there first wins. Least Clicks: Self explanatory whoever uses the lowest number of clicks to get there. Six Degrees of Wikipedia: Using exactly six clicks to get to the goal. 5 clicks to Jesus: again self explanatory. and No United States: Since the U.S. wikipedia page is a giant hub of business and art types it's often used as a middle location to navigate somewhere quickly, this mode removes that option.

So what do you say, check it out get you competitive click on, and who knows you may just stumble across something interesting.

Day 29 : Energy : PHOTO

Another abstract piece from me messing around in blender. Think it could be another fun background but also I just really enjoying playing with particles and physics and seeing what sort of neat results I can get.

Day 28 : Fog : VIDEO

Okay I struggled a bit on which category to put this in. I've always been a fan of fog and some of the footage I got today gave me a good excuse finally testing out a gif on here as well.

Day 26 : Optical Aberration Logo : VIDEO

Logo design test. Really wanted to play around with the After Effects plugin Element 3D and was able to make out some pretty nice quality results in a short amount of time. Also really enjoyed doing the audio on this one as well.

Day 25 : Passage : PHOTO

Had another hard snowfall day and decided to try and brave the snow and capture some good images.
I really like the aesthetic of paths in the trees. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with a number of pictures along those lines.

Day 24 : Upgrade Station : 3D

Another model for a game I'm working on. Making up some prototypes so we can start getting an idea for game layouts before we finalize design and do the high quality models.

Day 23 : Pearl : PHOTO

Something tells me the next few days here are going to be very enjoyable......and very loud.

Day 22 : Fixtures : PHOTO

Ended up really liking the color on this one. If you couldn't tell it's been pretty cold the last few days so I've been going for a few more indoor pictures. I'll probably work up the gumption to go out into the cold again here soon.

Free Game Friday | Nitronic Rush

Just watch.....just watch.

This. Game.  Very few games are so far stuck right smack dab in the middle of my interest. Crazy cars? Check. Ridiculous stunts and jumps? Check. Did you think that racing games needed more Tron, lights, jets, and occasionally wings to fly? I can't say I ever did before but now I know how badly I need those things.

Now calling this game a racing game isn't quite right. It's titled itself a racing survival game. Developed by some incredibly skilled students at DigiPen this game is wonderfully one of a kind. There are no other racers just you against the clock trying to survive the level. This includes blades of death, jumps, wall runs, lasers, giant rolling barrels with spikes. You know, your typical road obstacles.

I will say this. You have to get through the first section of the game to get to the real meat of the matter. The first section of levels don't really provide to much of a challenge, still entertaining but not where it gets to what makes it so good. Get through those and you'll reach the hardcore levels. Shit. Gets. Real.

Suddenly your precious wings that let you recover in the first section are taken away, and in their place are mad levels with wall runs, driving upside down, vertically and some crazy moments that have you wanting to run levels again and again. Now I should say at this point this game should be played with a controller, not keyboard. You can manage, sort of, with a keyboard, but the controls have clearly been designed with a controller in mind. And designed well. Before long you'll have you car whipping around every direction with ease.

One more thing, the soundtrack in this game is incredible. Dynamic and reacting to your play crazy pounding electronic beats fill every level. It's awesome. Good enough for me to have downloaded and have put on my mp3 player to listen to regularly. The kindly made the soundtrack also available for download here. So even if you're for some reason not into the game, for sure give this music a go.

Also this game inspired the creators to work on a full game release basically being this game on steroids so you should check out that as well.  If you're looking for great times and high speeds this will definitely be up your alley. Definitely a favorite of mine.

Day 21 : Create : PHOTO

Saw a pretty cool technique by PigArt for creating stylized gradients and decided to give it a go myself. I really the clean shapely design that's been getting trendy lately. Fun fact about this image, it's actually rendered in full 3D space with lights in the corners giving color to a displaced plane.

Day 20 : Ideas : PHOTO

Testing out my new lens for my camera (canon 50mm 1.4f) around the basement and ended up liking the way it looked.

Day 19 : Freedom : PHOTO

Wanted to do something a little more styled and heavy in post. Really wanted to go for a heavily decayed and aged look, I like how it turned out.

Day 18 : Edger Allen : PHOTO

A wonderful gift from my sister: A copy of some of the works of my favorite poet, Edger A. Poe.
This book was printed in 1902.

Free Game Friday | BRICK[bricksmash]SMASH

Have you ever felt that the game breakout could use more breakout?  Well evidently  Alan Hazelden did because he put together for us this wonderful little inceptious (I'm counting that as a word) game.

Each time you hit one of the bricks a ball is emitted inside that miniature breakout board. Once you clear one of the mini boards an extra ball is released.

Simple yet very entertaining and able to really challenge just how skilled at multitasking you really are. This game provides a strange good use of a few minutes of your time.

Day 15 : Mars : PHOTO

This is going to be a flashback weekend of some of my old stuff, so I hope you enjoy. Starting it off is a logo design for a Martian society who have declared their independence from Earth.

Day 14 : Gem : 3D

Game ready asset I made and textured for a game me and some friends are working on. It took me way longer than it should have to do good looking reflectance shader, but at least now I know how to do it properly.

Inner workings of my primary editing computer. I'll never get tired of seeing the inter workings of machinery.

Day 9 : Shatter : VIDEO

Familiar from the top of my blog, I decided to do a test render of it all in motion. GPU rendering using Blender's Cycle's renderer.
